PRESENTATION CLASSIC FESTIVAL 2020 AUTUMN
Last summer we rescheduled the activities of the 1830 Academy Classics Festival for this fall of 2020. This festival focuses on the figure of Beethoven, whose 250th anniversary is being commemorated. We have four activities:
October 2th we can listen to the Archduke Trio at the Sa Nostra Foundation in Palma. November 7th at the Xesc Forteza Theater we will perform his 5th concert for piano and orchestra Emperor, with the piano performance of the young fiancée Ahmed Alom, who is currently finishing his studies at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. November 13th we will perform Beethoven’s heroics, but in a chamber version for quartet made by Mozart’s student, J. N. Hummel. And finally, and November 18th, a lecture on Beethoven’s heroics: a before and an after, given by cellist and pedagogue Oriol Palou.
At the festival we can also listen to a program of French music: Songs by Berlioz and Duparc and La mer by Cl. Debussy on November 3th in the church of Santa Teresita in Palma. November 11th we will hear the choir of white voices Vokalars of Madrid conducted by Núria Fernandez Herranz, one of the best Spanish formations at the moment. And the 27th we will focus on the recovery of one of the great Mallorcan composers of the twentieth century Roman Alís, and who today has been practically forgotten. We will perform his concerto for piano and strings, performed by his scholar and excellent pianist Albert Díaz.
Finally, we started a new cycle of concerts at the festival: A cycle of young performers in Can Balaguer to give a first chance to the young promises. This year we will be able to listen to the young people: Aina Amengual, Bernat Martí, Pau Hernández, Magí Garcies and Clara Mascaró.
All this makes up an ambitious festival, which we had to concentrate on this fall because it had been suspended in March due to the pandemic. We resumed the activities with great enthusiasm and hoping that the lovers of classical music will like and be interested.
We look forward to seeing you all!
